Hello Hidden Valley Families!

We are looking forward to our first rain-free weekend in a long time, and hope you are, too!

Last week, the PTO hosted John Baker, one of the co-principals of White Hill Middle School.  We had a great turn out of about 20 parents to listen to Mr. Baker’s fabulous presentation! He answered every single question thrown at him and gave all of us a great overview of White Hill, its policies and how sixth grade functions.  We encourage our fifth grade parents who weren’t able to join us to be on the lookout for communications from White Hill and RVSD about future presentations and tours of White Hill in the coming months. We think you will be very pleased.

It is hard to believe that our fifth grade parents are already thinking about moving on to middle school and that the rest of our families are already thinking about summer plans and the next school year.  Speaking of next school year, the PTO is looking for three new board members for next year - a treasurer in particular.  This is normally a two year commitment to ensure continuity.  We promise that it is fun!  The PTO Board recruits and manages the various committees that make Hidden Valley run behind the scenes, and works with Mrs. Fish to allot school funds to various programs.  It isn’t a difficult job and the time commitment is generally greatest at the beginning of the school year.  Most importantly, it is a rewarding role that allows you to be very involved with the staff and students. If you are interested, or have any questions, please email the PTO at hiddenvalleyhawksPTO@gmail.com.

Have a great weekend!

Shared Enrichment Club Coordinator Needed (twice a month)

Lego Clubs have been a huge success so far since our launch!  Do you want your 3rd-5th grader to continue to enjoy Lego Enrichment Club on Mondays?  We are in need of a helper every other Monday during lunch time 12:10-12:45.  Unfortunately, without help we will not be able to continue this amazing enrichment opportunity for our upper grades.  Please email hiddenvalleyhawkspto@gmail.com if you are interested.

Movie Night or Game Night Parent Coordinator Needed

How fun would it be to have a Student Movie Night or a Family Game Night before the end of the school year?  PTO needs your help!  We are open to these ideas or others you may have for a student or family fun event.  Please email hiddenvalleyhawkspto@gmail.com to share your ideas.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Remembering the life and legacy of Dr. King

Hi there,

Because one day is too short, let's celebrate MLK spirit a little bit longer. Mainly because, let’s face it, we did not really have time on Monday. Some enjoyed a restful day with their family (lucky you!) Yes, I did write restful😉. Some had to work (I hope you had a good day!).

Here’s a sweet American way to celebrate MLK: Baking Cupcakes!

Baker Michael Platt, 14, uses sweet potato pie flavors to create a cupcake to honor Martin Luther King Jr. and Black History Month. Meet Michael and his dreamy recipe

Give it a try this weekend and while you wait for your delicious cupcakes to bake, read this article “ What was Martin Luther King Jr. like as a child? A prankster and ‘an ordinary kid.’”  with your kids and learn nine new facts about MLK that may surprise you.

Enjoy your delicious MLK cupcakes.  Share your pics!

Do you know? MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.

Let’s see how these 12 kids are changing their communities and our world.

It makes me think about Jean de la Fontaine, a famous french fabulist, saying, "We often need someone smaller than ourselves."

To remind ourselves to trust future generations and to remind future generations to trust themselves.

Have a sweet (potatoes) weekend.
